ABOUT CPSD
Objective
The proposed think tank aims to accomplish following objectives:
1. To organize seminars, conferences and workshops on the themes of democracy,
peace, security and development particularly in the context of Pakistan
and the South Asian region.
2. To carry out policy-oriented research studies on vital and critical
issues in South Asia.
3. To publish Karachi papers in the form of monographs.
4. To establish and maintain a database on the important issues of Karachi.
5. To provide training to researchers.
6. To maintain a website of the Center along with a newsgroup.
Methodology
Three-phased strategy will be pursued to establish and transform the
Center as a recognized and viable think tank of Pakistan. First, required
planning and brainstorming will be done in identifying and hiring the
qualified staff; establishing the infrastructure; tapping resources and
doing the required planning of activities for the first year. Second,
the holding of activities including seminars and publishing research studies
along with meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences. Third, to establish
liaison with similar think tanks in Pakistan and in different parts of
the world.
Funding
It is expected that costs to run the Center will be met from donations and by approaching various philanthropists.

1st International Conference on "Peace, Security & Governance" is held on Feb 6-7,2011. Organized by Center for Peace, Security And Development (Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education) in collaboration with Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
